Connect Claude to TableWorx
Connect Claude to TableWorx and you can ask it about your business in plain language: "How did we do today?", "Which waiter had the biggest cash-up variance this week?", "What's stopping today's Day-End?"
Claude gets read-only access to one company. It can look at sales, dashboards, cash-ups and trading days, but it can't change anything in TableWorx.
Before you start
You need:
- A TableWorx login with an email address and password, the same one you use for the TableWorx Manager app.
- The company manager or store manager role in the company you want to connect. Waiters, lead waiters and accounts with only the owner role can't connect Claude. If you need one of these roles, ask whoever manages staff accounts for your company.
- A Claude account that can add custom connectors. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner of your Claude organization may need to add the connector before you can connect it.
Step 1: Add the connector in Claude
These steps are for Claude on the web, at claude.ai. Claude's own labels can change over time, so they may differ slightly from what's written here.
-
In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors.
-
Choose Add custom connector.
-
Give it a name you'll recognise, such as
TableWorx. -
For the server URL, paste this address:
https://api.tableworx.ai/connector/mcp -
If Claude shows fields for an OAuth client ID or client secret, leave them empty. Claude sets those up with TableWorx by itself.
-
Select Add, then Connect. A TableWorx page opens in your browser.
Step 2: Approve the connection in TableWorx
The page that opens is headed Connect Claude.
- If you aren't signed in, sign in with your TableWorx email and password. The page shows who you're signed in as. If that's the wrong account, select Sign out and sign in again.
- Check that the page says you'll be sent back to claude.ai. Only allow access if you started connecting Claude just now.
- Under Company Claude may read, choose the company Claude should read. If you can only connect one company, it's already selected.
- Select Allow. The page shows "Returning to Claude…" and takes you back to Claude, where the connector now shows as connected.
The page is valid for 10 minutes. If you see "This link has expired. Go back to Claude and connect again.", start again from Connect in Claude.
If you select Deny, nothing is connected and Claude is told you declined.
Connect from Claude Code
If you use Claude Code, add the connector from your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http tableworx https://api.tableworx.ai/connector/mcp
Then, in Claude Code, run /mcp, choose tableworx and authenticate. Your browser opens the same TableWorx
page as in Step 2. This time the page also warns that it returns to a program
on this computer. That's expected for Claude Code, but only allow it if you
started the connection in Claude Code yourself.
What Claude can see
Claude sees exactly what you'd see in TableWorx, and no more:
- One company, the one you chose when you connected. To have Claude read a different company, disconnect and connect again, choosing the other company.
- Your stores. A company manager's connection covers every store in the company. A store manager's connection covers only the stores assigned to them, and can't show company-wide figures such as the company dashboard.
- Read-only data. Claude can't create, change or delete anything.
You can ask Claude about:
- Sales: today, yesterday, week, month and year to date, the last 7 or 30 days, or a date range you choose. You can compare with the previous period, the same period last year or the same day last week, and break sales down by category, product, dining mode, area or payment method.
- Dashboards for the whole company or one store.
- Cash-ups: the cash-ups for a trading day, their status, and variance by waiter or by till, including how a day's variance compares with the 30 trading days before it.
- Trading days and Day-End: a day's cash and payment totals, what's stopping the day from closing and who it's waiting on, unsettled payments, cash movements, whether payments match bills, and how a Day-End came out.
- Tills: how much cash each open till should hold right now, and how much cash to move out of the tills.
Some things to know when you ask:
- A trading day follows the store's own timezone, and "today" is live while the day is open. For an earlier day, name the date.
- When you ask about a store, use its name. Claude looks up which stores you can see.
- If a figure isn't ready yet, for example because cash-ups are still outstanding, Claude should say so rather than guess.
How long a connection lasts
A connection ends:
- 90 days after you connect, or
- after 30 days without use, whichever comes first.
When a connection ends, Claude can't read TableWorx until you connect again, the same way as before.
If you lose the company manager or store manager role in that company, or your TableWorx account is deactivated, Claude stops getting data within about five minutes.
Disconnect Claude
To stop Claude using TableWorx, remove the connector in Claude: open Settings, then Connectors, and disconnect or remove TableWorx.
If you need the connection ended on the TableWorx side straight away, for example because you lost a device that's signed in to Claude, contact TableWorx.
What TableWorx records
TableWorx doesn't receive your conversations with Claude. It records each request Claude makes: which information it asked for, for which store and date, when, and whether it worked.
The figures Claude reads become part of your Claude conversation, which your Claude account's settings and Anthropic's terms cover.
Troubleshooting
"You can't connect Claude to any company with this account." Your account doesn't have the company manager or store manager role in any company. See Before you start.
"This link has expired. Go back to Claude and connect again." More than 10 minutes passed, or the request was already answered. Select Connect in Claude again.
"Connecting Claude needs a full sign-in with your Tableworx email and password." Select Sign out, then sign in with your email address and password.
Claude says "Too many requests — wait a minute". Claude asked for a lot of information in a short time. Wait a minute, then ask again.
Claude says it can only read the company it was connected to. Each connection reads one company. Disconnect and connect again, choosing the company you want.
Claude says "Tableworx is unavailable" or "The Tableworx API is unavailable". TableWorx couldn't answer just then. Try again in a few minutes.
Claude can't reach TableWorx any more, or asks you to sign in again. The connection ended: it reached 90 days, went unused for 30 days, or your role changed. Connect again from Claude and approve it as in Step 2.
